With “So what is that performance art?”, the participants experience a physical memory exploration on the fact that how a body and space interpret and structure each other. The while, they have knowledge of the state of performing in daily life since the rituals, of the history of performance art, of genres which performance art contains the analyse method of these genres, of the particularities to pay attention while constructing a performance. The workshop ends up with a performance created by the participants and which is shared with the audience. The participation is limited to 15 persons.

The effects of the paganism and the ritual concepts on the state of performing

The effects of the Christianity and the Islam on the body perception

The notion of carnivalesque

The body-mind dilemma and Descartes

The informing about the sociocultural structure of the first half of 20th century

The reflections of the social movements in 1960s-1970s on the performance art

The effects of post-structure on the body-space perception

The interaction between the video art and the performance art

The effects of social structure in Balkans since the 1980s on the performance art and the examples of performance art in Balkans

The android body notion which is emerged with the new findings in technology and the examples in the performance art

The observer-observed relationship

The description with the examples of pagan rituals (month anniversary, mid season, sacrifice types), carnivals, ballet, opera, cabaret, concert, puppet, the classical theatre, the contemporary theatre, the dance theatre, the modern dance, Butoh happening…

Based on body-space notions, the analysis of time, accessories, audience, voice, light and camera in performance reading. During the workshop, 2 samples are analysed.

2nd Day; How to construct a performance?, 3 hours

In the section of “What do we pay attention to while constructing a performance”, what we learn from the previous days is supportive. The support is provided to the participants about how they should construct the performance they want to create.
